For the Beals...I think Beal means something to do with 'exit' or 'entrance' in Gaelic. it's everywhere! This was a grate or a man hole in the street!

Great stuff: good tale and good pics. I understand you are out and about in Dalkey - give Marian a ring - you will be less than 2 km from her at Sandycove.
We went to Brecknock last night - some good music and the sale has been confirmed. It will close in September. And they have nothing planned for Bloomsday today! I might go down for sentimental reasons.
How are you getting to Germany and beyond? Is the train south overnight?
